Structures research

The overall aim of this research group is to study the behaviour of surrounding built infrastructure, including:

  • concrete, steel and composite structural performance
  • pavement design
  • geotechnical stability.

Research areas

  • Behaviour of concrete structures and high performance concrete materials
  • Structural fire performance of concrete panel elements
  • Numerical behaviour of pavements subjected to fire and climate change moisture
  • Finite element analysis of concrete non flexural members
  • Behaviour of pavement materials with and without recycled materials
  • Numerical and experimental investigation of composite structures
  • Stability of foundations on reactive soils and unsaturated soils
  • Resilience of structures under extreme loading, uncertainty quantifications and treatment
