Victoria University will have its best men's and women's teams compete in the inaugural University Basketball League (UBL).
The UBL, a competition established by UniSport Australia, capitalises on the huge success and popularity of basketball in Australia and the university sector.
Both the men's and women's competitions will be played across the country from 13 April to 26 May 2021.
About
Endorsed by Basketball Australia, and supported by the respective State Basketball Associations, the inaugural UBL tournament will be played over nine weeks, with each participating university getting the opportunity to host and livestream the matches. The 2021 UBL season is set to run from March through to May.
Both men's and women's competitions will be played across the country, culminating in a finals weekend to determine Australia’s number one basketball university. The creation of the UBL will also provide unique work integrated learning opportunities that will enhance the students' academic development with practical experience.
The competition is free of charge to selected athletes including interstate flights, accommodation, uniform and training. Matches are held mid-week to avoid clashes with external basketball programs and university commitments.
