Overview

Gain the practical skills and knowledge to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at a basic industry-approved level.

Short course dates and times: 

This course equips you with the scaffolding skills to provide work platforms for construction purposes, including edge protection, access ways and falsework. You will develop competencies connected with the operation and use of:

  • modular and prefabricated scaffolds
  • cantilevered materials with a maximum working load of 500kg
  • ropes and gin wheels
  • safety nets and static lines
  • bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork).

On successful completion of this course, you can apply to WorkSafe Victoria for a license to perform high risk work.

Course contents

To be issued a Statement of Attainment in TNSCF Basic Scaffolding, a student must successfully complete the core unit.

Gain the skills and knowledge required to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at a basic industry-approved level. This course will equip you with the scaffolding skills to provide work platforms for construction purposes, including edge protection, access ways and falsework.  You will develop competencies connected with the operation or use of:

• modular and/or prefabricated scaffolds;

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.
