Mercy Henry is a Teaching Focused academic, in the First Year College, Victoria University. She is a Doctoral Candidate in La Trobe University and worked as a lecturer for Bachelor and Master of Nursing program. Mercy is passionate for teaching/research and has an aspiration for a research career in nursing education and midwifery. She has 18 years of clinical experience in nursing and midwifery workforce and 12 years of teaching experience in nursing.
Mercy is a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with international clinical midwifery experience in Ireland, India and Australia. She has teaching experience in India and Australia on both vocational and higher education sector. Mercy also works as a midwife in Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg on a casual basis to keep up with the midwifery skills.
Mercy’s doctoral degree research focus is to identify the barriers to help-seeking and explore the gaps in current Family Violence support system for Migrant South Asian Pregnant and Postpartum Women. Mercy participated as a speaker and resource person in international e-workshops and e-webinars held in India. She has received a staff service award for the recognition and the appreciation of service to Mercy Hospital for Women, Melbourne. Mercy’s future ambition to involve in family violence international research for India and Australia with the aim of providing recommendations to inform policy and practice for the better family violence support structure.
