As Deputy Vice-Chancellor External Relations and Partnerships, the Hon. Wade Noonan leads Victoria University's (VU) external engagement, advancement and communication strategies to benefit VU students and staff, partners, industry and community.
Wade Noonan’s career is defined by his passion for bringing together government, business and community groups for social good. His influence has been far-reaching and impactful.
He was in Victorian politics for over a decade, at a time of great change with record population and jobs growth. He won the seat of Williamstown in 2007 and served as the Minister for Police and Corrections and the Minister for Industry, Employment and Resources in the first term of the Andrews Government. During his public life, Wade took the challenges head-on and steadfastly, giving him meaningful insights into leadership.
Post politics, Wade was the Executive Director of the West of Melbourne Economic Development Alliance (WoMEDA), where he helped transform the organisation into one of the region’s most influential advocacy groups. He also played a leading role in developing a 20-year blueprint for Melbourne’s North and West City Deal, of which VU is a key stakeholder.
In 2020, Wade proudly accepted a Companion of the University Award from Victoria University for his outstanding contribution to Government and Melbourne’s West. He is also a Fellow of Leadership Victoria’s prestigious Williamson Community Leadership Program.
As a resident of Melbourne’s West, Wade loves nothing more than following his beloved Western Bulldogs and rates the 2016 AFL Premiership as one of the best days of his life.
