Invest Victoria partners with VU to attract international investment
Victoria University (VU) and the Victorian Government’s foreign direct investment agency Invest Victoria will partner in an initiative designed to attract international investment and drive long-term economic benefits for the State.
VU and Invest Victoria and have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to deliver investment opportunities of mutual benefit to VU and the local economy, including investment in research, development projects and commercialisation.
International investment opportunities could include co-location on campuses or funding for research locally.
VU is well placed to attract investment with current programs and research aligning closely with Invest Victoria’s targeted industry sectors of health and life‑sciences, agri‑food, advanced manufacturing, energy and clean economy and digital technologies.
In phase one of the MOU, VU will promote the following key research fields for investment:
- digital sports technology
- digitisation in construction
- green engineering for a circular economy
- assistive technologies/e-Health
In addition, as a dual sector University, VU Polytechnic is in position to identify skills needs arising from industry research collaborations. They also work with industry and research partners to deliver industry relevant skills training relating to commercialisation of research outputs.
The partnership will assist VU to deliver on its strategic objective of ‘Partnering with Principle’ more rapidly and attract deep alliances with like-minded industry partners.
