2016 Library, Records & Archives Awards recipients
Victoria University Library, Records & Archives Services staff were recently recognised for outstanding contribution, service or innovation with the presentation of the 2016 Library, Records & Archives Awards.
The recognition comes from nominations by VU staff and students for the Outstanding Contribution Award and the Service Award, and nominations by only Library, Records & Archives staff for the Innovation Award.
Outstanding Contribution Award: Kim Burrell
Kim Burrell has shown excellent dedication and contribution to the VU Centenary program throughout 2016 by engaging with broader members of the University community. Kim engaged with alumni and community partners (Footscray Historical Society and Footscray City College) to assist with a range of centenary events held both at VU and externally.
Service Award: Meg Weller, Cindy Mohammad and Ben Humphreys
Meg Weller has been recognised for her enthusiasm to attend to any request and for taking it further to ensure that the client is satisfied. She is known to be ‘exceptional in her workshops for VU English students’ and receives positive feedback from staff and students. Meg is always friendly, approachable and deals with a small request the same way as any major request.
Cindy Mohammad has provided a great help in advertising relevant library events and other relevant communication areas. She has also worked on liaising with other departments in getting the library known to them and getting the positive outcomes for the library.
Ben Humphreys provides excellent customer service to the whole library through the provision of excellent administrative support with a client focus in all his activities and prompt and accurate response to queries. He is quick to follow up and ensures clients' needs are met. He has excellent knowledge of the administrative tasks and processes of the university.
Innovation Award: Barbara Gutthann
Barbara Gutthann has worked hard to enable journals to be made available online for Offset and Journal of Public Pedagogies. She has efficiently liaised with the college staff, the vendors, ITS and Web Services to ensure the online version is ready for the launch. Barbara has also successfully assisted in the implementation of the publishing of the first scholarly textbook monograph Ten Years of a Global Partnership: Victoria University and University of Texas at El Paso within the given timeframes.
