Overview of academic writing

Discover the key features of effective academic writing and learn what makes a strong university assignment. You will learn how to:

• maintain objectivity in your writing and develop your own academic voice
• map out a basic essay structure
• use the TEEEL model to help build your academic paragraphs
• maintain academic integrity and avoid plagiarism.

Writing academic assignments

Learn how to communicate your ideas and research through a well-structured essay. Practise paraphrasing, embedding evidence and constructing strong arguments to help take your assignments from 'good' to 'great'. You will understand:

• the writing process for effective academic writing at university
• how to incorporate academic resources into your assignments
• the importance of paraphrasing
• the essentials of effective paraphrasing and how to express ideas in your own words while maintaining academic integrity.
