About the program

Program objectives

The program is dedicated to achieving several key goals that enhance the experience of VU Sydney's international student community. 

Our aims include:

• enhancing the advancement of student life, quality education, and student participation
• contributing to the improvement of student life in both academic and social aspects
• bridging the gap between students and management
• fostering an inclusive environment that recognises and represents students from all cultural groups
• improving transparency through consistent communication with VU students
• encouraging and supporting active participation of all students in community engagement.

Volunteer responsibilities

As a member of the Student Representative Group (SRG), you will be responsible for:

• collaborating with the student services team and internal stakeholders to assist with various events and activities
• providing support during enrolment sessions, on-campus activities, and excursions
• participating in the development and implementation of projects and programs that benefit the university community.

Duration & schedule

Once you join the program, your term lasts until the second week of the upcoming February or July intake, whichever comes first.

You will engage in various projects, events, and activities as part of your volunteer duties. Participation is based on your available time, which is confirmed in advance by the Student Services Team.

The SRG program runs on a volunteer basis. You can resign from your role by submitting a written notice to the Student Services Office.

To continue beyond the agreed period, you must submit a new Expression of Interest (EOI) at the beginning of each intake period.

Application process and criteria

To be considered for the Student Representative Group (SRG) program, applicants must:

• be a current student at VU Sydney
• submit an Expression of Interest form to the Student Services team
• participate in a collective interview with other applicants
• attend the welcome session for new members
• read and sign the SRG agreement, committing to the responsibilities and expectations of the program.
