Book launch: Psychology in Education
This event has already taken place.
Join Dr Tim Corcoran at The Victoria Institute on 27 May 2014 at 3:30pm for the launch of his new book, 'Psychology in Education: Critical Theory-Practice'. This book features as the first edition in The Victoria Institute's book series, 'Innovations and Controversies: Interrogating Educational Change'.
Tim believes that 'Psychology in Education' questions how educators understand their students.
"The book aligns itself with the ideas of equity in education. Mainstream psychology too often targets deficits in the individual. This book aims to look at those same issues using an inclusive approach," says Tim.
"'Psychology in Education' probes educators to critically reflect on their practice as certain approaches to psychology can be potentially detrimental to groups and individuals."
"There are books exploring critical psychology in the areas of health and community but none as comprehensive as this collection dedicated to education."
"There is a growing community of practitioners interested in critical psychological approaches to education beyond the field of critical psychology. Increasingly, I find that education researchers and theorists are also interested in psychological theory."
"Authors from around the world contributed to the book to ensure that it is appropriate for settings across the globe. We have contributors from the UK, USA, Canada, Greece, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand."
Register your attendance at [email protected] by 23 May 2014.
