The course fees you pay will depend on whether you are offered a government subsidised place or a full-fee place in your chosen course.

If you are enrolling as a government subsidised student, you will be required to pay a VET tuition fee and may be required to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee as well as contribute towards the cost of materials for your course.

If you are not eligible for a Government subsidised place, you will be charged the full-fee tuition rate, which is inclusive of the Student Services and Amenities Fee and any material fees.

Government concessions

A government concession may be available to you if you are accessing a government subsidy, are enrolling into a course at a Certificate IV level or below and hold one of the following cards:

  • Commonwealth Health Care Card (holder or named dependent)
  • Pensioner Concession Card (holder or named dependent)
  • Veterans Gold Card (holder)

If you meet these requirements, you will be charged the concession rate which is equivalent to 20% of the VET tuition fee payable by non-concession students in a government subsidised place for your course.

You cannot apply for a government concession if you are enrolling into a course as a full-fee or international student.

Receiving concession

To receive concession on your tuition fees:

  • a copy of your concession card must be attached to your enrolment form
  • the date of the card must cover the start date of the course (first unit start date)
  • the concession card must be applied to the enrolment by the Invoice due date.

The concession card must also be produced again for any additional enrolment.

If you cannot provide your concession card by the invoice due date then you must apply for an official fee extension. Your concession card can then be applied by the fee extension due date.

Indigenous student concessions

Under the Indigenous Completions Initiative, Indigenous students pay only the concession rate equivalent to 20% of the VET tuition fee for government subsidised training at any level, including at Diploma and above.

Indigenous students and full-time Indigenous apprentices may access ABSTUDY payments through the Australian Government. ABSTUDY helps indigenous Australians who are studying with costs such as:

  • education
  • accommodation
  • living
  • fares to travel to your place of study each term or semester if you need to study away from home
  • prescription medicine.
