The purpose of this module is to enable students to engage in issues that create discussion and debate in a community of which they are part. Students will consider the values that underpin different communities and how these values create different opinions and perspectives. Students will read, view and listen to a range of diverse opinions and consider the language and purpose of the content, and consider personal perspectives of community and workplace issues and develop logical responses to these debates in a respectful and thoughtful manner and how these change depending on the audience and context.
Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each units learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.
The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the VU Polytechnic and/or via the VU Polytechnic e-learning system.
