Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - literacy skills to read and interpret a range of information; - problem solving skills to: analyse the reliability of information sources; critically examine changing views of teaching and teachers; analyse the internal expectations of teachers, and; analyse the impact of key legislation and policy on teaching and teachers, and; - self-management skills to: develop strategies for dealing with situations likely to be encountered in the school environment, and; reflect on the way in which own views may influence teaching practice.Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - reliable sources of information on relevant legislation and educational policy; - changing family demographics; - common cultural stereotypes; - factors that contribute to socio economic disadvantage; - key effects of educational disadvantage, and; - workforce trends.
