This unit describes the skills and knowledge necessary to investigate options and plan for further education and training to support employment and/or community participation. It includes the skills to conduct and document a self audit of current skills.

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - literacy skills to document a learning action plan; - self management skills to reflect on own experiences and identify potential barriers and current skills, and; - communication. Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - education and training options, and; - support schemes including those for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
