The focus of this unit is on advanced listening and speaking skills in English to participate in further study contexts which involve the presentation and discussion of ideas and information in complex formal presentations and group discussions.
The outcomes described in this unit relate to:
  • The ISLPR (International Second Language Proficiency Ratings) descriptors for Speaking and Listening. They contribute directly to the achievement of ISLPR Speaking 3 / 3+ and Listening 3 / 3+

and

  • the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). They contribute directly to the achievement of Indicators of Competence in Oral Communication at Level 4

Assessment must confirm the ability to: - use appropriate conventions and apply linguistic knowledge to: - participate in a sustained verbal group interaction for study purposes - plan, present and evaluate complex oral presentations suitable to the topic, purpose and audience - select and use resources to enhance presentation medium and meaning - review own performance in group and individual performance and seek and respond to feedback to make improvements to performance
