This unit describes the skills and knowledge that enable learners to develop the basic skills and confidence to perform very simple and highly familiar numeracy tasks involving the recognition, giving and following of simple and highly familiar oral directions. These directions are part of the learners' normal routines to do with orienting oneself in familiar contexts such as near their homes, in workplace buildings or classrooms. Learners will mainly communicate these mathematical ideas using spoken rather than written responses.
