Overview

The purpose of this module is to provide the participant with the skills and knowledge to
apply brick veneer construction processes.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

• Comply with OHS legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice applicable to workplace operations.
• Comply with workplace/organisational policies and procedures.
• Communicate and work safely and effectively with others.
• Select and use the appropriate materials, tools and equipment for brick veneer construction.
• Set out and lay veneer brickwork with one internal and one external corner and one opening containing a window or door with flashing over the opening. This brick veneer structure is to be a minimum of 6 metres in total length and a minimum of 1.7 metres high, and include a brick sill that is a minimum of 600 mm wide. A control joint is to be included in this brick veneer structure.
• Set out and construct base brickwork with bearer piers of a minimum height of six courses, incorporating vents, control joints and sub-floor access.
