Overview

The purpose of this module is to provide the participant with the skills and knowledge to
apply basic bricklaying skills. This module also includes an appreciation of the principles of
concrete.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

• Comply with OHS legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice applicable to workplace operations.
• Comply with workplace/organisational policies and procedures.
• Communicate and work safely and effectively with others.
• Describe the components and principles of mortar.
• Select and use the appropriate materials, tools and equipment for basic bricklaying.
• Mix a mortar batch to a required standard.
• Set out and lay brickwork to a line and gauge.
• As a minimum, construct an internal/external corner wall 14 courses high with one stopped end.
