This unit covers attaching flexible cords and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to supplies up to 230V a.c. This may be incidental to or a primary and regular function of work related to a principle function in the workplace. It encompasses working safely, identifying plug configurations, selecting and using testing and measuring devices, terminating and connecting cords/plugs and conductors, safety testing and reporting.

Assessment

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills and knowledge: - safety; - the basic electrical circuit; - relationships in an electrical circuit; - test equipment - resistance measurement; - selection of flexible cords and plugs to suit given applications; - connecting flexible cords and plugs to appliances; - testing, and; - producing documentation and reports.
