Overview

This unit explores how communities provide support to members. Students will consider various ways of expressing community belongingness, the concept of community, The emphasis is on personal and emotional growth through active group participation, membership or belongingness, and an introduction to the significance of community engagement. through the example of a democratic society, students will explore community-related concepts, including rights and responsibilities, with a focus on how young people can participate and engage.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each units learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the VU Polytechnic and/or via the VU Polytechnic e-learning system.
