Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - performing geometric calculations; - carrying out geometric development; - establishing datum points; - producing templates to specification; - labelling and storing templates; - developing patterns; - making fabrication and assembly allowances; - determining material and component quantities, and; - minimising material wastage.Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - specifications of work; - tools and equipment; - development preparation; - datum points; - materials used for the preparation of templates; - manufacturing allowance considerations; - template development, labelling, identification and storage requirements; - development methods and applications; - fabrication and assembly allowances; - sources of data on fabrication, and; - relevant standards and codes.
