Assessment

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - develop a website according to design specifications; - lay out page elements; - test the web pages in a variety of browsers, and; - validate the web pages, against industry standards.Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - summarise standard web and web scripting design principles; - define and explain the application of the following for website development: - cascading style sheets (CSS); - the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP); - a markup language, such as hypertext markup language (HTML), or extensible hypertext markup language (XHTML), and; - World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards.
