This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate and constantly review work processes that ensure that the quality of the business process is maintained for the implementation of specific industry technologies at an identified industry standard.  It applies to individuals engaged in ongoing review and research in order to identify, manage and evaluate the implementation of industry technologies or techniques to improve aspects of the organisation's activities.

Assessment

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - analyse and critically evaluate features and functions of identified industry specific technologies to an industry standard; - manage the implementation of new and emerging industry specific technologies, and; - review the performance of the industry specific technologies for the organisation. Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - describe the trends and applications of current vendor products and technologies; - outline the various techniques for gathering information; - discuss the current directions of information and communications technology (ICT) and specifically of the major industry technology standards used in the specified area, and; - summarise the general features, capabilities and application of current industry hardware and software products.
