This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to engage in a basic ongoing review and research of industry specific technologies in order to identify and apply these technologies and techniques to improve aspects of an organisation's activities.

It applies to individuals who work under supervision and are involved in ensuring that the quality of business processes are maintained at a high level through application of industry specific technologies.

Assessment

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: *identify, implement and evaluate at least three industry standard technologies *use at least one feature and at least one function of each industry standard technology above. In the course of the above, the candidate must: *comply with task and organisational requirements. Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: *industry standard technology trends and directions in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and major industry technology standards used in specified area * vendor product directions *industry standard hardware and software products and their general features and capabilities *information gathering methodologies.
