This unit describes the skills and knowledge to collect, organise, illustrate, summarise and interpret a range of statistical data for work.  This unit applies to individuals who need numeracy skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level 4 to undertake a vocational training pathway or workplace tasks.  This unit is designed for integration and contextualisation with vocational units to support achievement of vocational competency.

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - use one or two methods to collect data; - calculate summary statistics and interpreting results; - illustrate data using workplace appropriate methods, and; - interpret information in tables, and graphs.Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - methods of data collection; - difference between discrete and continuous data, and; - types of graphs.
