This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to read and comprehend information in routine tables, graphs and charts.  This includes using routine calculations to interpret and compare information and methods of display.  This unit applies to individuals who need numeracy skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level 3 to undertake a vocational training pathway or workplace tasks.  This unit is designed for integration and contextualisation with vocational units to support achievement of vocational competency.

Assessment

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - read and interpret information found in routine tables, graphs and charts, and; - perform routine calculations to compare and interpret data.Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - how statistics and graphs can be used to inform, persuade or mislead.
