This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify routine workplace problems and strategies to respond to the problems.  This unit applies to individuals who need learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level 3 to undertake a vocational training pathway or workplace tasks.  This unit is designed for integration and contextualisation with vocational units to support achievement of vocational competency.

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - identify workplace problems; - propose appropriate strategies to respond to problems, and; - respond to feedback as appropriate. Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - factors contributing to routine workplace problems; - a range of strategies for problem solving, and; - sources of advice and feedback.
