The overall goal of this unit is to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, places and positionalities and standpoints in education. Through acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Peoples as the First Peoples of Australia, this unit aims to develop a deeper understanding of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples cultures, histories and languages of to promote reconciliation.
|1.||Investigate positionalities in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander standpoints;|
|2.||Develop a deeper understanding of Indigenous studies in educational environments through a humanities framework of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples connections to people and place|
|3.||Review and critically reflect on policies and resources in order to identify culturally appropriate approaches and strategies that support the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander standpoints in educational environments with a view to promoting reconciliation ; and|
|4.||Develop an understanding of key theories that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination and sovereignty.|
