This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to undertake research that supports work across a range of human resource functional areas.  It applies to individuals who require a broad understanding of human resource functions, associated policy frameworks and the administrative requirements to support these functions and policies.

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - prepare reports reviewing key human resource functions applying all ethical, organisational and legislative considerations, and; - use appropriate technology to collect and analyse workforce data.Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - identify the key provisions of legal and compliance requirements that apply to the organisation; - summarise relevant organisational policy and procedure frameworks; - summarise relevant ethical parameters; - explain how information technology can help analyse human resource metrics, and; - outline the roles and responsibilities of human resource practitioners.
