Overview
The Foundation English is for students who need additional time and assistance to strengthen and refine their literacy skills to support their study in VCE English/ESL. The unit is also for students who may require a more vocationally orientated approach to English or may be aiming to directly enter the workforce upon completing their post-compulsory secondary studies. The unit deals with the study of texts, the analysis and construction of argument, information literacy.
This unit is delivered in Year 11.
Assessment
For Melbourne campuses
Demonstration of 'Satisfactory completion' by a selection of Assessment tasks and Level of Performance by SAC (Tests) and Exams .
Required reading
Lecturer will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of VU produced workbooks.
As part of a course
This unit is not compulsory for any specific course. Depending on the course you study, this unit may be taken as an elective.
