Marc C-Scott, Course Coordinator, Bachelor of Screen Media, Lecturer, College of Arts:

The Screen Media degree is unique because it not only focuses on the film and television industry, but it focuses on the media industry as a whole. This is including things like film and TV production, but also pre-production, post-production, and alternative ways to distribute that media.

Robert de Young, Associate Professor, College of Arts, Discipline Group Leader, Media Communications & Library Studies:

I think we’re after students who really have a passion about using media to tell stories. We’re after students who are creative and students who really will embrace some of the changes that are actually happening right now.

Marc C-Scott, Course Coordinator, Bachelor of Screen Media, Lecturer, College of Arts:

As part of the Screen Media degree, students will be sing state-of-the art equipment. This will not only include the cameras and lighting equipment that we have access to, but also our television studio, our radio studio, and also our Mac labs.

Thomas Rolfe, Student:

The thing I like most about the lecturers at VU is that they have real experience, and they’re willing to pass that on. They’re hands on, the course is hands on, and you’re able to develop your own personal skills.

Phillip Georgiadis, Student:

I think it’s a good stepping stone to get my skills up in video, and to get a lot more comfortable behind the camera.

Virginia Alexandra, Student:

I think what I’ve loved most is the challenges that I’ve met that I never thought I that was capable of. I would never have thought that I would have been able to make a short film.

Robert de Young, Associate Professor, College of Arts, Discipline Group Leader, Media Communications & Library Studies:

The industry is changing so quickly, I think we really need to fit students for where the industry is going in terms of screen media. Which means giving them the sorts of skills to produce high quality audio and high quality video, but also to be able to deliver that to a range of different platforms.
