Gaining professional skills and confidence through her work placements enabled Raquel Stevens to make great inroads into her career in the arts.

"One of the most valuable things about my VU course was the amazing practical experience I gained during my industry placements – first as an editorial intern at a publishing house, and then at Malthouse Theatre.

I had heard about VU’s placement programs before I even applied – that was what initially drew me to the course.

During my placements, I gained experience writing, editing, assessing manuscripts and supporting marketing and creative staff.

I was also given the opportunity to work on VU's creative arts journal Offset as part of one of my study units.

I credit my practical placements with helping me to get my current job as an administration assistant and writer at Environmental Essentials.

I gained confidence to work in the real world, and got some great references and made connections within the industry.

I would definitely recommend VU for its hands-on approach to learning.”
