This event has already taken place.
Wear purple on Friday 25 August to help us celebrate diversity!
Wear it purple day is an annual LGBTIQ+ awareness day especially for young people. Supporters wear purple to celebrate diversity and rainbow young people. The focus is to give pride, empower and advocate equality of well-being for rainbow young people, and create safe spaces.
To acknowledge and celebrate Wear it purple day, VU is hosting this LGBTIQ+ and gender diverse awareness and information session for staff and students.
This session will be facilitated by Ishwar Singh, Program Manager of Pride in Diversity, the leading organisation for supporting LGBTIQ+ and gender diverse staff in workplaces. Ishwar Singh works with the Victorian State Government departments, universities and corporate workplaces in Melbourne to drive institutional LGBTIQ+ inclusion initiatives in Victoria.
Tailored for the University environment, the session will:
- provide information about the LGBTIQ+ and gender diverse community,
- explore the challenges faced by members of the community
- provide insight into the impact of organisational culture on the lived experiences of LGBTIQ+ and gender diverse people.
Even if you can't attend the session, everyone is welcome to be involved and show their support by wearing purple.
