Celebrate VU’s cultural diversity during Multicultural Week!

Enjoy performances, fashion shows, a Footscray food crawl, movie screenings and so much more across campuses.

Student Life activities

MCW Fiesta

• Tuesday 21 August, 11am–1.30pm, Building P Courtyard, Footscray Park Campus

Come along for fun activities including an Indigenous smoking ceremony, fashion shows, club cultural zones, performances, and more. No registration required.

Food crawl through Footscray

• Wednesday 22 August, 12-2pm, Footscray Nicholson Campus

Ever wanted to try all the incredible food in Footscray but didn't know where to start? This is your chance to experience Footscray's multicultural food culture with local guides! 
Register for the food crawl, places are limited.

Ethiopian coffee ceremony

• Thursday 23 August, 12pm–1.30pm, Werribee Campus

Enjoy a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony right on campus. No registration required.

The Lunchbox (India)

Admission is free (includes popcorn) so bring a friend and be a part of Multicultural Week at VU!

VU Library Exhibition: Australia’s Neighbours

• Date: Monday 13 August – Friday 30 November
• Location: Footscray Park Library, level 2 display cabinets

Meet VU students representing our neighbouring countries as part of the exhibition and hear their stories at the Footscray Park morning tea on Wednesday 22 August.

VU Learning Hub Instagram competition

The Learning Hub is running an Instagram photo prize. To enter:

1. snap a photo on campus and tell us what multiculturalism means for you as a VU student
2. upload it using the hashtags #vulearninghub and #vumulticulturalweek

Photos will be displayed in the Learning Hubs and on digital screens!

• First prize: $200 VISA gift card
• Second and third prize: $50 VISA gift card

Competition closes on 14 September 2018, winners announced 20 September.

Footscray Park Library & Learning Hub multicultural morning tea

• Date: Wednesday 22 August, 11am
• Location: Level 2, Learning Hub, Footscray Park Campus

Enjoy morning tea and chat to the staff from the Learning Hubs and the Library. Each plate will be a different cuisine connected to different home countries.

Come to the Learning Hub and get to know some of our Student Mentors and their stories.

VU English students: multicultural Melbourne photo competition

Take a photo that represents multicultural Melbourne to you.
Submissions to be emailed to [email protected]. Competition closes 10am, AEST 17 August 2018.
