Construction Hub builders, Kane Constructions, received an Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings Award at the Master Builders Australia National Excellence Awards (Victoria) held last week to recognise leading commercial builders in Victoria.
The impressive Construction Hub at VU's Sunshine Campus consolidates the University's construction trade courses and showcases building innovation.
The Green Building Australia Council recognised the outstanding environmental credentials of the recently opened building with a 6 Star Green Star rating.
Green Star is a comprehensive, national, voluntary environmental rating system that recognises and rewards environmental leadership within the built environment.
Trades College Dean, Kath Curry is delighted at the continued recognition. While the priority has always been to provide an innovative learning space where traditional hands-on workshops integrated with high-tech learning labs, an award-winning building is a bonus.
"The award reinforces VU's commitment to excellence in all we do. By learning their craft in a building that incorporates the latest techniques, our students are experiencing first-hand the human benefits of modern environmental design."
The impressive Construction Hub consolidates the University's construction trade courses including carpentry, bricklaying and furniture-making.
The award-winning building will be a key attraction at the Trades Expo on Saturday 31 August, an opportunity to learn more about a future in a trade.
