Victoria University's Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Linda Rosenman today welcomed the passing of the Victoria University Bill by the Victorian Parliament, which reaffirms the University's commitment to education in Melbourne's west. This is one of a suite of university bills that were passed this week.
Professor Rosenman said: "We are very pleased that the Parliament has continued to recognise VU's unwavering and long standing commitment to serving western Melbourne."
"Our commitment to the west is upfront and centre of VU's mission statement and is the lynchpin of our strategic plan for the future."
"VU has always supported an explicit statement in The Act emphasising our commitment to the west."
"The new Act builds on our historical commitment to the west and guarantees this will continue into the future."
"As always we will offer opportunities for students from across the west to access the quality tertiary education courses they want at vibrant campuses."
"We are also delighted that the Act includes a provision for the appointment of at least three members to Victoria University Council from Melbourne's west – a proposal that was put forward by the University."
"This will ensure a stronger representation for Melbourne's west at the highest level of the University."
