Victoria University journeys to the Royal Melbourne Show this month to treat families to a spectacular and educational light presentation.
Equipped with her "James Bond'' Optics suitcase from the Optical Society of America, VU Biomedical Science Research Fellow Dr Nicoleta Dragomir will present exquisite experiments involving light and photonics.
Her special show, The Voyage of Light, highlights the optical properties of light and how we can use technology to explore it.
"Light is everywhere in our world and it carries information from the world to our eyes,'' Dr Dragomir said. "Light is a perplexing and wonderful phenomenon when we study it more closely.
"We see light as colour and brightness but, in fact, it's an electromagnetic radiation.''
Dr Dragomir said she was thrilled to be able to educate Show visitors about the physical brilliance of light.
"This will be an entertaining and engaging show that will no doubt encourage more young people to follow science as a career.''
The Royal Melbourne Show runs from September 18 to 28 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
Photograph times with Dr Dragomir and her experimental equipment can be organised upon request.
