Media alert: Grand Final week visuals
Presentations on cutting edge research into Australian Rules football from Victoria University’s Professor Football stable of experts.
Topics include the science behind the intensity of finals play by sports physiologist Dr Rob Aughey and the psychology of footy mania by Dr Matthew Klugman, whose book Passion Play: Love, Hope and Heartbreak at the Footy has just been released.
The forum will be chaired by Associate Professor Dennis Hemphill, head of the School of Sport and Exercise Science.

- Biomechanics lecturer Dr Kevin Ball on the importance of kicking in the AFL draft
- Associate Professor Bob Stewart on why the AFL drugs policy is failing the code, the players and the community
- Dean Laureate Rob Pascoe on the emergence of football culture in 19th Century Melbourne
- Law lecturer Dr Matt Harvey on players in the dock – in court as well as the tribunal
