St Albans South Primary School and Victoria University students: Building a bridge to the future.
What: Victoria University students in the Certificate III in Community Services Work course have teamed up with the pupils of St Albans South Primary School to strengthen cross-cultural understanding.
Where & When: The two schools will on the 1 September 2009 when they hold a themed activity session at the St Albans South Primary School on 1 September, 2009: “Many Cultures-One School”. Primary students from all year levels will have an opportunity to celebrate their multi-cultural backgrounds within the school. Activities will run from 12pm till 1.30pm in the classrooms.
Picture opportunities: During these classroom sessions pupils will produce posters that reflect themselves and their various cultural backgrounds, assisted by the trainee Community Services students from across the road at Victoria University.
Background: The cultural project, devised by the University students, aims to expand community awareness of the school’s small and friendly environment that promotes positive multicultural acceptance and harmony. This new partnership is also building a bridge across the road between Victoria University and the Primary School, encouraging future collaboration, and, hopefully, a wave of potential future university students.
