In the twilight, by the sea, enjoy a night of poetry
Grab your picnic rug, mulled wine and poetic disposition, and jump aboard the double-decker bus for Victoria University's (VU) twilight poetry tour, stopping at some of the most evocative seaside locations in Melbourne's west.
In the cool evening air, guest poets and musicians will entertain poetry lovers at piers, rocky beaches and under the Westgate Bridge as part of ‘Rotunda in the West: Conversations with Australian Writers', presented by VU's Professional Writing and Editing (TAFE) program.
Organiser Bruno Lettieri, a VU writing teacher, said this event is a creative departure for the popular series that has brought literary luminaries such as Helen Garner, Alice Pung and Arnold Zable to VU in recent years.
"Since poetry is much more than words, this tour is designed to add ambience by holding the readings in inspiring and fascinating settings," he said.
Guest poets are Kristin Henry, Paul Mitchell, and Lisa Gorton, winner of the 2008 Premier's Poetry Prize.
The cost is $15 or $10 concession.
