The Water, Structures and Logistics Research Seminar will present a number of current research projects being undertaken both locally and internationally. The seminar is interactive and will provide the opportunity for active discussions on all aspects of these research projects.

The aim of the seminar is to:

  • Share current research with others and seek effective collaborations
  • Foster lively discussion
  • Discuss the merits and methodology of the research projects
  • Discuss research advancements and innovations
  • Highlight the research impact from a commercial and community perspective
  • Consider further research opportunities and novel approaches.

The presenters for the October Research Seminar are:

Dr Anne Ng

Green Infrastructure - a holistic approach

Dr Anne Ng's research focuses on River water quality, integrated urban water management and water infrastructure management.

Dr Nitin Muttil

Extreme climatic events: Trends and their impacts on urban stormwater system

Dr Nitin Muttil is currently researching hydrologic modelling and the impact of climate change on water resources.

Dr Srikanth Venkatesan

Improving disaster management practice using spatial technologies

and the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund - Grand Challenge

Dr Srikanth Venkatesan specialises in Earthquake Engineering, Structural health monitoring and Non-Destructive testing techniques; Developed ground motion models for intra-plate seismic regions; Chemical methods of Non-Destructive testing to timber bridges based on Thermogravimetry analysis. 

Srikanth will be discussing the opportunities available for researchers to participate in the Australian - India Research Fund and the practicalities of a successful application and project. 

Dr Hermione Parsons

Institute for Supply Chain and Logistics

Dr Hermione Parsons is the Director of the Institute for Supply Chain and Logistics at Victoria University. She has extensive national and international research experience and credentials in economic and systems geography and strategic planning across a variety of global supply chain and logistics industries.


The Faculty of Health, Engineering and Science Research Committee facilitates a number of seminars throughout the year designed to promote and develop an active research culture.

The Research Committee invites researchers to present their projects to a broad audience both internal and external to the University.

Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the presentations and group discussion.
