Seminar: Ethical dilemmas in reporting and disseminating social research

This event has already taken place.

Thursday 10 October 2013

Join Associate Professor Kitty te Riele from The Victoria Institute between 12:00 pm - 13:00 pm on Thursday, 10 October 2013, as she explores the ethical issues around reporting on social research.

The presentation will be based on a chapter in an upcoming book titled "Ethics in Education Research" (SAGE, 2014), co-authored with Professors Rachel Brooks and Meg Maguire.

Associate Professor Kitty te Riele, says university ethics committees will often zoom in on the process of preparing for and carrying out data collection, rather than the reporting stage.

"I will show how the dissemination of social research findings can be ethically complex."

"We'll examine the challenges in relation to how participants are represented in the reporting phase, and the limitations of confidentiality as well as authorship.

"Solutions to ethical dilemmas are rarely straightforward. Therefore, the presentation will aim to generate an ongoing discussion rather than providing all the answers."

RSVP to Teah Farrugia by Tuesday, 8 October 2013, to make sure you don't miss out.
