Professor Meg Maguire explores inter-generational relationships

This event has already taken place.

Monday 8 July 2013

The Victoria Institute would like to invite students and staff to attend a seminar discussing children's inter-generational relationships in a post-welfare society.

Demographics, family formations and labour mobility are all changing in a period when we are moving towards a post-welfare state. The "inter-generational contract" is changing i.e. the financing of pensions, health and social care has started to move away from being a social to an individual (family) responsibility.

Presented by Professor Meg Maguire, the seminar will examine what these changes reveal about the potential for respect, reciprocity and care across generations.

Will there be enough young adults in the networks of older people? How will these changes impact the inter-generational relationships? Professor Maguire will aim to answer these questions and more.

This seminar is supported through the Australian Government's Collaborative Research Networks (CRN) program.

Places are limited - please RSVP to [email protected] by 5 July 2013.
