Dean’s seminar series will focus on the ‘Future of the legal profession'

Michael McGarvie, CEO of Legal Services Board since 2009, will deliver the inaugural presentation in the College of Law and Justice Dean's seminar series.
The series will focus on the theme: ‘The future of the legal profession – Where are we going?’.
Michael's presentation will address the following topics:
- supervision
- conduct and health
- growth trends in the profession.
Michael was appointed Victorian Legal Services Commissioner and CEO of the Legal Services Board in December 2009.
Prior to this, Michael was CEO of the Supreme Court of Victoria for three years.
Between 1983 and 2006, he practised as a solicitor in a private firm, where he specialised primarily in dispute resolution and civil litigation over consumer and workplace rights.
Michael is committed to preserving existing high standards and independence among Victoria’s legal profession and ensuring that complaints about lawyers are dealt with efficiently and fairly.
A light lunch will be provided prior to the start of the seminar.
