Malthouse Theatre views high quality arts education as vitally important to the development of young people. In 2012, Malthouse launched Prompt, a re-invigorated program of learning and discovery for young people and educators that has gone from strength to strength.
The Provocateurs program is part of Prompt that offers a team of 30 theatre-lovers aged 18 to 26 the opportunity to attend performances and engage with audiences. For a full year, they see shows, meet the artists who created them, join formal conversation events and meet other young artists, theatre-goers and thinkers. They are invited to write reviews, open up the discussion on social media and talk with audience members in the foyer before and after shows.
Five priority places in the Provocateurs program are made available each year for VU students.
Malthouse Theatre Youth and Education Manager, Vanessa O'Neill, speaks highly of the students who participate in the Prompt program.
"The VU students involved in the program are all highly enthusiastic, creative and passionate.
Gaining industry experience is incredibly important for graduates and I applaud VU for having this as their focus."
