I'm Emily Bodey, the Future Students programs manager at Victoria University. VU Guaranteed is Victoria University's early entry program. It gives you a guaranteed place, five bonus ATAR points for most courses that consider ATAR as part of the admission criteria, access to exclusive opportunities and tailored advice.

Eligibility for the program

Emily Bodey

VU Guaranteed is available to all year 11s and 12s regardless or not if they're international students, whether they're studying VCE or VCAL.

All they need to do is attend one of our partner schools and go online and answer either three or four questions depending on what year level they're in, on their aspirations their inspirations, and why they'd like to study at Victoria University.

How to apply

Jeremy (Bachelor of Education P-12)

It was such an easy process. It was just done through the website. You just filled out a series of pretty short questions. I think it only took me about, I don't know, maybe 10-15 minutes and then I heard back probably within a week from there and what to do from there.

So, it was just really easy … really simple … and you know it takes 15 minutes out of your day, but I think it's well worth it.

Emily Bodey

The advice that I would have for students applying for the VU Guaranteed program is not to sell yourself short. Some students find it really hard to talk about their own aspirations or their own goals or what they've been able to achieve during high school.

So, when we ask things like how do you contribute to your family or your community, doing things like looking after brothers and sisters, being part of a church community, helping out your teachers or your fellow students - these are all really good things to call out as part of your contributions or your successes at school.

Being Accepted

Arianna (Bachelor of Community Development)

Knowing that I was accepted into the VU Guaranteed program and heading into exams I felt a sense of calmness. It basically just meant that I could take the time to relax and focus on my exams and just not stress about whether I'm going to get in, or whether I'm not going to get in.

Jeremy

I think it made the back end of Year 12 a much less stressful experience for me. Going into exams with a much more clearer mind knowing that I've got a spot at a university next year.

It's just a great feeling really. And seeing other people kind of be a bit anxious or worried about what they're going to do next year and just knowing personally that I've kind of got a really secure option available was just a great feeling for me. So even just trying to enjoy my last final few weeks of school was just much easier as it obviously reduced a lot of the stress from my shoulders.

The VU Experience

Jeremy

I feel like everyone's really welcoming and they make the transition from Year 12 into first year university just really really easy.

Arianna

I'm actually very grateful for Block Model. You can focus on each individual unit and topic at one time and you don't have the stress of having two assignments due on the same day or like three different courses that you have to keep up with. It's just it's perfectly in line.

Jeremy

Instead of being thrown all these different assignments and tasks or trying to force them into the one you know week or whatever it is - being able to have it more spread out and focus on simply one unit at a time over a four-week block with maybe a break in between, I've just found that really beneficial for me. So, it really allows me to do my best and really succeed at the university.

Arianna

I am really enjoying being a student at VU. I've made such strong life connections with some people here and I really don't think I would have met them anywhere else.

I mean the main piece of advice I could give to any VCE student would just be take it on with both hands and just go for it. Because it's so quick, it's so simple, and it's so easy to do. And just knowing that you have a guaranteed place in a university towards the back end of your final years at school when you've got exams galore. If you're a student like me that found it really overwhelming, I think it'd be a great thing just to kind of have that guaranteed spot at a university. Overall, I think it's just a great idea.
