Victoria Police is increasing the representation of African-Australians in the police force. The first step is a free 15 week VU course to navigate the 9 month Victoria Police recruitment process.

The Victoria Police Diversity Recruitment Program.

Police officer

I think you should do the course at Victoria University if you're looking to challenge yourself, if you're looking for a rewarding career, and if you're looking for a way to give back to the community.

I think it's important that Victoria Police is representative and inclusive, because we have a diverse community and it's important for that to be represented. Because everybody can bring something different to the organisation and that can only help to make Victoria Police a better organisation and one that caters to the needs of the community.

It offers participants somebody who will support them through the process. It will give them an insight into the organisation and we'll be there to assist them if they need any kind of assistance.

So, I've been in the police force for 13 years. What keeps me inspired and motivated every day is the opportunity to give back to the communities.

Often when we're dealing with the community, you are assisting people at a time in their lives when it's probably the worst time in their life and you have an opportunity to really affect that outcome and, you know, to really try and make that process as comfortable as possible. Because it is probably a really difficult time that they're going through.

You don't have to be a student at Victoria University to undertake this course.
