A world of opportunities await with industry-endorsed qualifications

Christy Musco

Talent and Culture Manager
Accor Australia

"My name is Christy Musco and I'm a Talent and Culture Manager with Accor Hotels in Australia.

"So I graduated from a Bachelor of Business in Tourism Management with Vic Uni, worked in a number of different roles within the industry and found my way into human resources. So from there, I went back to VU and did my Bachelor of Business in Human Resource Management as a secondary qualification. And I've enjoyed a career in talent, cultural, human resources ever since.

"A lot of students come looking for front office roles. So reception, porters, concierge. We have food and beverage roles. We also employ in other areas, like accounting and finance, sales and marketing, reservations. Any of those opportunities can be a work integrated learning placement. We're very open to taking students into those roles on a permanent capacity following their graduation as well. So it's often that flow on effect, which is really great.

"If you have any experience in the industry, it's always going to put you in an advantage. Doing a work integrated learning placement often leads to more permanent ongoing employment with Accor Hotels. That can open up opportunities globally. We have 4,500 hotels worldwide. As a graduate myself of VU, I know that the quality of education is really high and we've seen that through all of the students that we've had in our business."
