Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) Challenge Experience

Due to a security enhancement, you may be challenged from time to time to approve sign in requests when you access VU systems.

Once you have registered for Multi-factor authentication (MFA),

These challenges can be approved through the MS Authenticator app on your device.

Let’s take a look at the MFA challenge experience on your phone.

For security purposes, when you open a secure app like Outlook you may receive a challenge request.

Enter your VU account username and password to sign in.

MFA will ask you to approve your sign in.

Now let’s take a look at the MFA challenge experience on your computer or laptop.

When using your laptop or computer to access VU systems, such as OneDrive, you may be challenged.

You will need to sign in using your username and password.

You will be notified that a challenge has been sent to your registered device.

Approve the request to complete the sign in process.

MFA is simple to use. It is there to protect your account and VU’s information.

It is important to only approve challenges that you have initiated.

If you receive a challenge that you didn’t initiate, or are unsure of, click Deny and contact the IT Service desk.
