Jayne Lovelock:

It’s my role at Malthouse Theatre to work with all of our partners and sponsors including VU who's been a sponsor of Malthouse Theatre for over 15 years, actually our longest running partner.

We're really proud of our partnership with VU, we run a series of engagement opportunities for VU students to participate in the work that we do at Malthouse Theatre so VU have come on board this year as our prompt education Partner.

MALTHOUSE THEATRE OFFERS INDUSTRY WORK EXPERIENCE TO OUR STUDENTS IN MEDIA, CREATIVE ARTS AND EDUCATION

Jayne Lovelock:

Malthouse Theatre has a really broad, diverse education program uh that runs from opportunities for year nine and 10 students VCE workshops right through to internships and placements for tertiary students at VU.

Placement opportunities are quite varied and include opportunities in production but also in our offices too, so at the moment we've got two marketing interns from VU at the moment, Keira and Raquel that are working with us to support our season launch this week.

We also do things like workshops for particular classes I know that our Education Manager Vanessa has recently done a couple of workshops with the education department here at VU in looking at the way that we can incorporate arts education in a practical way into syllabus.

All of the placement we've had come through have been really positive I think and they’ve all enjoyed their time with us at Malthouse.

MALTHOUSE THEATRE INVITED VU’S CHOIR OF OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM LIVE AS PART OF THE EVENTS PROGRAM

Jayne Lovelock:

What VU and Malthouse bring together is an opportunity to kind of uh, I guess get into the nitty-gritty of what theatre work is and we're a small team so when you come and do a placement you really get to participate across all the spectrums from looking at the way producings work, to um witnessing auditions, to looking into the spaces and looking what the backstage crew does.

I think it's also a learning experience for me, what the VU students bring is a level of skills and expertise and enthusiasm to the team and that means as well as uh us learning from them they learn from us it’s a reciprocal relationship and that's something that’s really fulfilling.
